Week 2 - Plan for Advanced 3D work

During the process of my Advanced 3D work I originally was going to be working on a environment based from an animated movie called "UP". I found some concept art for it which was based within inside the house from the film and I planned to change the texture style to have it use real life textures to change it to what it is originally. I had an example of what it was I was going to build at the end of my first blog which explained how it was I was going to interpret it into my final show reel. This was my idea before we actually started the module in term 2.

When I come to working on the module, my idea changed completely and have ended up working with another artist to work on a different piece of concept work which I think turned out to be a better idea than my first original one. As a team we found a piece of concept which was based inside a pub and we realized that it may not be enough for the two of us to work on, so we decided to find another piece of concept which would fit in with what we wanted to do but would make it big enough for us to work on.

The best concept we could find which we think would fit in perfectly with the pub idea was a street concept. With the concept we found it had a pub based on the corner of a street which worked out relatively well for us because we could still work on the pub and also make our scene bigger by working on the outside part too. This is the main concept we will use but use other images to get ideas for our scene.

Throughout this work we decided it would be easier for one person to work on the buildings itself and for one person to work on the assets like props etc. This way it stops us from getting confused with who is working on what for the scene and I wrote a list down of what it is that I will be building for the environment just so I can keep on track with what it is that I know I need to build. We have decided to make parts of the level blocked off just so it stops you from wondering outside of the environment and also closes it up a bit so we can focus more on the main part of work.

As you can see the whole concept between the both is a lot different but I feel that the final outcome I am choosing will turn out to be much better than the original idea I had, although it would of been a nice idea changing the concept to realistic instead of cartoon.
