Week 8 - Where I am at

At this stage I have currently still been working on both environments to make sure that I manage to get them finished.

During this week of Advanced 3D was an alpha presentation so me and my team member had to show our current environment at alpha stage. This means that everything in our scene had to be textured even if it wasn't final texture and everything that was needed within this scene had to be in. Our main priority before alpha was to make sure we had most of the stuff textured and done even if some little bits were not textured we still wanted to make sure we had the important parts and main parts of the scene finished in order for it to meet the alpha deadline.

From alpha stage we had a plan nailed down to what it is we are going to be working on after this point so that we know exactly how long we have left of uni and what needs to be done each week in order for our work to meet the deadline and is finished on time.

The image above is what our plan shows of each week on what we should be working on and how long it should take us to complete each of these tasks.

the feedback we had during alpha stage was better than expected.

We didn't quite meet alpha because we had a few things untextured in our level and this is because we wanted to make sure the models we had done, were textured well for when we showed it.

The cinematic we produced was good enough and met the purpose of what we wanted to show.

One downside I noticed with our level when we showed it to the lecture, is the lighting of our level. It was too dark to see much really which meant it was hard to see some of the work that was done. This may be the reason it doesn't look like it meets the concept at the moment because of the lighting to show of the work and give it that nice effect.

A list of improvements were given as an idea on what to change or add to our level. We have taken these into consideration and decided to work on adding some of the stuff to make our level look a lot better and meet the concept we have chosen.

We think having a few dynamic effects in our level will really make it stand our more and we hope to be able to get this in before the hand in date.

Here is the cinematic we produced for alpha milestone, this is where I currently am at this stage.

Now that alpha stage as gone I have started to work on my dissertation again as it is first to be handed in which means I need to focus more on this module now that there are no more deadlines for Advanced 3D anymore. At this point I am still doing the written part of the dissertation but I am close to start working on building the scene that I plan to build which I have collected a good amount of resource for in order to make sure that my scene fits exactly with what it is I am basing it from.
