Week 3 - Plan for Dissertation

Throughout my dissertation I will be building a scene which is based from "The Walking Dead" TV series. Although from my dissertation the only part that will be interpreted into my show reel is my scene as the written bit isn't necessary for what it is I want to show.

The scene that I originally wanted to build from the walking dead was a scene which is based from the outside area of the prison in but I decided to change my scene idea so that it sticks to the prison area but it focuses on inside the prison itself where all the cells are held. The reason I changed it to this is because my previous work as mainly been working on inside environments especially for Real Time environments in which I worked on a single environment on my own.

As you can see the image I originally wanted to base of and work on is outside but its also not really too clear on what part it is I actually want to build (image above). This image as changed a bit from my original idea but it was better for me to than what I showed in my example show reel.

As you can see the new image that I plan to base my scene on now, is based inside the prison and it also gives of a good lot of information to what it is exactly I plan to build for my scene in the dissertation. It shows all the areas I will be focusing on and is an easy way to block of areas which will not be seen (image above). There are a few small open areas but they are easier to fill with rubbish etc. than what an open outside area would be. 

This is a better idea for me as I am used to how to build an inside scene since I understand how to use the lighting within it whereas working on an outside environment I feel would take up too much of my time as I have little knowledge of how to do the lighting and it saves having to worry with the environment in the background etc.

Since I want to get specifically the area I want to work on, I will be making sure that I find the perfect image in which it will have everything that I need exactly for me to build my scene for my dissertation. Being able to work on this sort of work will give me better understanding of what job role it is that I plan to go for in the future.

I am mainly building my dissertation scene just so it fits and is similar to the image I based it from, but I wanted to experiment with lighting within my scene just because my knowledge is quite small with using lighting and this will hopefully help to make my scene look really nice and give of some nice shadows and dark atmosphere making it fit with the genre I am going for.
